Did Monterey Park, Los Angeles, California shooting suspect Huu Can Tran seek medical treatment before capture?

The Monterey Park shooting suspect has been identified as a 72-year-old Huu Can Tran. He was found dead inside a van with a self-inflicted gun shot wound on Sunday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said in a press conference.

Law enforcement sources told CNN that the suspect may have sought medical treatment shortly before his capture. Authorities, as per the report, received a tip Sunday from an area hospital where a man fitting Tran’s description came into the emergency room seeking treatment. He waited for some time but then left the hospital without receiving treatment.

Huu Can Tran killed 10 people at a ballroom dance hall during a Chinese Lunar New Year celebration late Saturday near Los Angeles before fleeing the scene and later killing himself when approached by police on Sunday.
The motive for the shooting was not known, said the Sheriff during the press conference. “We want to know, we want to know how something this awful can happen,” Luna told reporters.

Tran turned a handgun on himself on Sunday morning as police approached the white van he was driving in Torrance, about 20 miles from the site of the shooting at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park.
Five of the victims were male and five were female, Sheriff said. Their identities have not been disclosed. Another 10 people were shot, and seven of them remain in the hospital, with at least one person in critical condition.

Police released images of the suspect apparently captured from surveillance camera footage showing him wearing spectacles, a jacket, and a beanie hat with a white stripe.

The sheriff confirmed that Tran was involved in another incident at a dance venue in the neighboring city of Alhambra nearly 20 minutes after the Saturday night shooting in Monterey Park. At the second location, witnesses said Tran walked in holding a gun that patrons were able to snatch. No one was shot and he fled.
