A seven-year-old Taiwanese boy, who was slammed to the floor 27 times in April during a judo training, died after surviving 70 days on life support. Initially, he suffered a brain haemorrhage after the judo training, in which a classmate of the seven-year-old and the instructor threw the boy to the ground several times. He later went into a coma and was put on life-supporting treatment.

The boy’s parents decided to stop the life supports after 70 days. The judo instructor, who is in his 60s, has been charged with physical assault resulting in serious injuries and using a minor to commit a crime, reported local news site Taipei Times.

The trainer, identified by his surname Ho, was released on bail of 3,583 USD earlier in June. But upon the boy’s death, prosecutors will change the charge to that of ‘injury causing death’. If he is found guilty of the crime, he could face anything between a seven-year jail time and life imprisonment, reported the local news site.

In April, the seven-year-old convinced his parents to allow him to take judo lessons. And the incident occurred only after two weeks. During the training, he was heard screeching, “my leg!”, “my head!”, “I do not want it!”, but his instructor repeatedly ordered him to stand up. He also asked one of the senior students to throw him to the ground repeatedly. When the boy was not able to get on his feet, the instructor himself picked him up and slammed him to the floor several times.
