The Sensex surged 491.01  points or 0.85% to 58,410.98 while the Nifty was up by 126.10  points or 0.73% to close at 17,311.80  at the end of Monday’s trading session.

The Sensex moved in a high and low band of 58,449.00 and 57,639.80. On the index, 24 stocks advanced, and 6 stocks declined.

The Nifty traded in a range of 17,328.55 and 17,098.55. On the index, 37 stocks advanced, and 13 stocks declined.

The broader indices ended in green; when the BSE MidCap index rose by 0.26% and the BSE SmallCap index was up by 0.09%. The top gaining sectoral indices on the BSE were, Utilities by 1.86%, Power by 1.85%, Bankex by 1.60%, Financial Services by 1.13%, and Energy by 0.66%. On the flip side, Metal by 0.84%, Realty by 0.48%, Telecommunication by 0.22%, Capital Goods by 0.20% and Industrials by 0.05%  were the top losing indices on BSE.

The top gainers on the Sensex were SBI by 3.20%, NTPC by 1.88%, Bajaj Finserv by 1.80%, ICICI Bank by 1.78% and Axis Bank by 1.75%. While the top losers on the index were Larsen & Toubro by 1.45%, HCL Technologies by 0.77%, Wipro by 0.60%, Tata Steel by 0.55% and Power Grid Corp by 0.31%.

The top gainers on the Nifty were SBI by 3.03%, Bajaj Finserv by 2.10%, Axis Bank by 2.00%, NTPC by 1.94% and ICICI Bank by 1.87%.  While the top losers were Hindalco by 2.18%, Larsen & Toubro by 1.42%, JSW Steel by 1.30%, HCL Technologies by 0.72% and Britannia Industries by 0.43%.

Atlanta Limited, Rama Steel Tubes Limited, BLS International Services Limited, Focus Lighting and Fixtures Limited, and Grauer & Weil (India) Limited hit their 52-week high on Monday.

Biocon Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Limited, Wipro  Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited touched a 52-week low on Monday.

Electronics Mart India Limited, BLS International Services Limited, Adani Green Energy Limited, Canara Bank and Ambuja Cement Limited were the most active equities on NSE.

The top volume gainers were TCI Finance Limited, Mahalaxmi Rubtech Limited, Just Dial Limited, Grindwell Norton Limited, and Atlanta  Limited.

Alkali Metals Limited, Atlanta Limited, B.C. Power Controls Limited, Delta Manufacturing Limited, and Mahaluxmi Rubtech Limited hit their upper price band.

Debock Industries Limited, Jaiprakash Associates Limited, ABM International Limited, Reliance Communication Limited, and Reliance Capital Limited, hit their lower price band. The upper price band was hit by 61 securities, 77 securities hit the lower band and 30 securities hit both the upper and lower bands on October 17, 2022.
