The Sensex surged 442.65 points or 0.75% to 59,245.98 and the Nifty rose by 126.35 points or 0.72% to 17,665.80 on Monday. 

The Sensex touched a high and low of 59,308.25 and 58,812.20, respectively. There were 24 stocks advancing against 6 stocks declining on the index. 

The Nifty traded in a range of 17,683.15 and 17,540.35. There were 35 stocks advancing against 15 stocks declining on the index.

The broader indices ended in green with the BSE Midcap index rising 0.46%, while the Small cap index was up by 0.89%. The top gaining sectoral indices on the BSE were Metal up by 2.04%, Capital Goods up by 1.07%, Telecom up by 0.93%, Basic Materials up by 0.91%, Bankex up by 0.89% while, Oil & Gas down by 0.32%, Power down by 0.09% were the losing indices on BSE.

The top gainers on the Sensex were Sun Pharma up by 1.81%, ITC up by 1.78%, NTPC up by 1.70%, Reliance Industries up by 1.60% and Larsen & Toubro up by 1.45%. On the flip side, Nestle down by 1.51%, Ultratech Cement down by 0.78%, Wipro down by 0.54%, Power Grid Corporation down by 0.25% and Asian Paints down by 0.18% were the top losers.

The top gainers on Nifty were Hindalco up by 3.35%, JSW Steel up by 3.11%, NTPC up by 1.79%, ITC up by 1.73% and Sun Pharma up by 1.58%. On the flip side, Nestle down by 1.71%, Bajaj Auto down by 1.71%, Britannia Industries down by 1.11%, Ultratech Cement down by 1.05% and Eicher Motors down by 0.75% were the top losers.

Action Construction Equipment Limited, Adani Enterprises Limited, Archidply Decor Limited, AIA Engineering Limited and Anant Raj Limited reached a fresh 52-week high on Monday.

Alembic Pharmaceuticals Limited, Biocon Limited, Kotak Nifty IT ETF, Kaveri Seed Company Limited and Piramal Enterprises Limited hit a 52-week low on Monday.

Reliance Industries Limited, Adani Enterprises Limited, Reliance Industrial Infrastructure Limited, HDFC Bank Limited And ICICI Bank Limited were the most active equities on NSE.

Geekay Wires Limited, Nippon India ETF Nifty SDL Apr 2026 Top 20 Equal Weight, Vakrangee Limited, Birla Cable Limited and Ducon Infratechnologies Limited were the top volume gainers.

Aaron Industries Limited, Archidply Decor Limited, Agro Phos India Limited, AJR Infra And Tolling Limited And AKG Exim Limited hit the upper price band.

21st Century Management Services Limited, Antarctica Limited, Rajdarshan Industries Limited, Aurum Proptech Limited and BAG Films and Media Limited hit the lower price band. There were 153 securities that hit the upper band while 47 hit the lower band on September 5, 2022.
