The Sensex surged 549.62 points or 0.94% to 58,960.60 while the Nifty was up by 175.15 points or 1.01% to close at 17,486.95 at the end of Tuesday’s trading session.
The Sensex moved in a high and low band of 59,143.66 and 58,744.13. On the index, 25 stocks advanced, 5 stocks declined, and one stock ended unchanged.

The Nifty traded in a range of 17,527.80 and 17,434.05. On the index, 39 stocks advanced and 11 stocks declined.
The broader indices ended in green; when the BSE MidCap index fell by 0.00% and the BSE SmallCap index was up by 0.00%. The top gaining sectoral indices on the BSE were, Commodities was up by 1.97%, Consumer Discretionary was up by 1.76%%, Energy was up by 1.71%, FMCG was up by 1.50% and Financial Services was up by 1.46%. While there were no losing sectoral indices on the BSE.

The top gainers on the Sensex were SBI by 3.41%, ITC by 2.39%, Nestle by 2.38%, Bharti Airtel by 2.25% and IndusInd Bank by 1.95%. While the top losers on the index were HDFC by 0.72%, NTPC by 0.68%, Tech Mahindra by 0.33%, Sun Pharma Industries by 0.16% and HDFC Bank by 0.15%.
The top gainers on the Nifty were SBI by 3.45%, Adani Ports & SEZ by 3.13%, Eicher Motors by 3.05%, ITC by 2.59% and SBI Life Insurance by 2.54%. While the top losers were NTPC by 0.86%, HDFC by 0.61%, Sun Pharma Industries by 0.53%, Britannia Industries by 0.53% and Tech Mahindra by 0.28%.

IDFC First Bank Limited, Coal India Limited, The Federal Bank Limited, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited, and Zenith Exports Limited hit their 52-week high on Tuesday.
Life Insurance Corporation Of India, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Samvardhana Motherson International Limited, Akshar Spintex Limited, and Debock Industries Limited touched a 52-week low on Tuesday.

Electronics Mart India Limited, Jaiprakash Associates Limited, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, NHPC Limited and Punjab National Bank were the most active equities on NSE.
The top volume gainers were Omaxe Limited, Samvardhana Motherson International Limited, Gokul Refoils and Solvent Limited, Bharat Gears Limited, and Zen Technologies Limited.

California Software Company Limited, Gokul Agro Resources Limited, Wonder Fibromats Limited, 3P Land Holdings Limited, and Agro Phos India Limited hit their upper price band.
Mangalam Global Enterprise Limited, Hindcon Chemicals Limited, Reliance Communication Limited, Omkar Speciality Chemicals Limited, and Bartronics India Limited, hit their lower price band. The upper price band was hit by 71 securities, 35 securities hit the lower band and 20securities hit both the upper and lower bands on October 18,2022.
