The 30-share BSE Sensex surged 696.81 points or 1.22% to close at 57,989.30. The highest it touches was 58,052.87 and the lowest was 56,930.30 in intra-day trade. It climbed 760.38 points or 1.32% during the day. Similarly, NSE Nifty climbed 197.90 points or 1.16% to close at 17,315.50.

Among sectors, IT, Auto, Bank and Oil & Gas indices rose 1% each, while Realty index was down 1%. The BSE midcap and smallcap indices ended flat.

Tata Motors: Shares of the auto major surged 3.01% to close at Rs 440.85 after the company announced a price hike of 2% to 2.5% on its commercial vehicle space. The prices have been hiked due to an increase in raw material costs.

Bandhan Bank: The lender’s stock plunged 3.61% to close at Rs 305.60 after Macquarie said that Assam’s MFI relief scheme outlay had been reduced to Rs 2,500 crore from Rs 7,500 crore, which impacts the recoverability of its Assam portfolio significantly.
