Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) is under a House ethics investigation, the nature of which has not been revealed.
According to a statement issued by the House Committee on Ethics on Wednesday, a bipartisan investigation has been launched by acting committee chairwoman Susan Wild (D., Pa.) and acting ranking member Michael Guest (R., Miss.).
The disclosure of the investigation “does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the committee,” he statement added.

The course of action in the investigation will be announced by the panel after its organizational meeting in the next Congress, sometime in 2023, the statement said.
“The Congresswoman has always taken ethics incredibly seriously, refusing any donations from lobbyists, corporations, or other special interests,” a spokesperson for Ocasio-Cortez said according to Forbes.
The 33-year-old has faced numerous allegations of ethical impropriety during her time in Congress. One of the allegations included that she improperly accepted gifts ahead of the 2021 Met Gala.
“New York elected officials are routinely invited to and attend the Met due to our responsibilities in overseeing and supporting the city’s cultural institutions for the public,” Ocasio-Cortez responded to critics at the time. “I was one of several in attendance in this evening.”
Who is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez?
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was born in the New York City borough of the Bronx on October 13, 1989. She is the daughter of Sergio Ocasio-Roman, an architect, and Blanca Ocasio-Cortez.
Ocasio-Cortez attended Yorktown High School, graduating in 2007. She came in second in the microbiology category of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in 2007. She later became the LDZ Secretary of State while she attended Boston University.
Ocasio-Cortez had a John F. Lopez Fellowship. After graduating from high school, Ocasio-Cortez enrolled at Boston University.
During college, Ocasio-Cortez served as an intern for US senator Ted Kennedy in his section on foreign affairs and immigration issues. She graduated cum laude from Boston University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both international relations and economics.

Taking office at age 29, Ocasio-Cortez is the youngest woman ever to serve in the United States Congress. She was previously an activist and worked as a waitress and bartender before running for Congress in 2018.
Ocasio-Cortez got engaged to her partner, web developer Riley Roberts, in April 2022 in Puerto Rico.
