Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday, will have breakfast with Members of Parliament (MPs) from Uttar Pradesh, according to news agency ANI. Uttar Pradesh is a significant state in terms of politics, with elections slated for next year. 

At least 40 members of Parliament are likely to attend the Prime Minister’s breakfast meeting in New Delhi, as per ANI report. 

PM Modi recently inaugurated Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, and presided over a conference of BJP-ruled state chief ministers.

The party has put everything it has at the approaching assembly elections in the hopes of regaining control in the state. PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are among the senior figures who are canvassing for the party. 

In recent months, the Prime Minister has made many trips to Uttar Pradesh to bolster the BJP’s campaign there. He also met with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, with whom he is said to have discussed a number of important topics. 

Shah has also been actively touring the state. He will hold a demonstration in Lucknow on Friday called “Sarkar Banao, Adhikar Pao” (make government, get rights). 

The rally, which is being organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Nishad Party, will take place at Ramabai Ambedkar Ground in Lucknow at 1 pm.

The home minister spoke at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit (HTLS) earlier this month, expressing confidence that the BJP will win a large majority in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. 

He also dismissed claims that the Samajwadi Party (SP), which is forming a coalition with minor parties, will pose a threat to the BJP. 

The Uttar Pradesh assembly election schedule is scheduled to be released in January. In 2017, the BJP took power in the state, winning 312 seats. In the elections, the party received 39.67% of the vote. In the recent assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party won 47 seats, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) 19, and the Congress won seven seats.
