Indian public broadcaster Prasar Bharti has signed a
memorandum of understanding (MoU) with over-the-top (OTT) platform Yupp TV to
expand the global reach of the DD India channel.

Prasar Bharti’s international channel is India’s window
to the world. DD India aims to put forth India’s perspective on all domestic
and global developments through its programmes.

The content hosting agreement was signed by Prasar Bharti
CEO Shashi Shekhar Vempati and Yupp TV Founder and CEO Uday Reddy.

With this, DD India will be available on the OTT platform
of Yupp TV in markets like the US, the UK, Europe, Middle East, Singapore,
Australia and New Zealand, according to a release by the Information and
Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry.

The ministry said that through Yupp TV, once can watch
live TV “anytime and anywhere in the world.

“Available in more than 190 countries, DD India also acts
as a bridge between India and the Indian diaspora spread across the
world,” it added.

Headquartered in Atlanta and Hyderabad, Yupp TV focuses
on south Asian content. It offers more than 300 TV channels in 15 languages,
including Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi,
Bengali, Oriya, Gujarati, Sinhalese, Nepali and Urdu. The service allows access
through 25 devices on up to six screens, including gaming consoles, smartphones
and other connected devices.

DD India is a government-owned English language news and
current affairs channel aimed at the international market, similar to BBC World
News. In January 2019, the Prasar Bharti board decided to make DD India a
full-fledged English news and current affairs channel. Prasar Bharati comprises
Doordarshan Television network and All India Radio. Prasar Bharti has undergone
major transformations in the field of technology, content and broadcasting.
