Delhi Capitals were hit by another COVID-19 case after a net bowler tested positive on the day of their match against the Chennai Super Kings last week. Opener Prithvi Shaw was hospitalised. However, skipper Rishabh Pant said that no excuse explains their poor performace and the team will need to be positive going ahead. 

Now, Pant and co face the Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.

The Capitals are yet to win consecutive games this season. They are placed fifth on the points table with 10 points in 11 games – bunched alongside Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings. They need to win all their remaining three matches for a shot at the playoffs.

Against CSK, first their bowlers were hit all around the park, then the batters were dismissed for 117. MS Dhoni and co won the game by 91 runs.

Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, are sitting on the third spot with 14 points and need just two wins to be certain of qualification. They have a healthy 0.326 NRR, which could come in handy even if they lose their remaining games.

The Royals have arguably the best bowling side in the competition. Yuzvendra Chahal, the purple cap holder, in combined with R Ashwin, Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna have the ability to defend any total.
