Jos Buttler has now scored 461 runs in the last six matches against the Mumbai Indians, including three half-centuries and a ton. On Saturday, the English wicket-keeper batter smashed a 52-ball 67 against his former team, helping the Rajasthan Royals post a total of 158 runs at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.

Buttler crossed the 500-run mark in IPL 2022 when he scored his first run against the Mumbai Indians. The 31-year-old reached the mark in nine innings, second-fastest after Virat Kohli (eight innings in 2016). He has so far hit three centuries and as many half-centuries. The England batter leads the orange cap table with 566 runs against his name. 

Jos Buttler was released by the Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2018. He was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for Rs 4.4 crore. Since then he has scored 548, 311, 328 and 254 runs in the last four seasons and managed to play a key role for the 2008 IPL champions.

Buttler has particularly batted well against his former team  – Mumbai Indians. His last six inngs vs MI: 67 (52), 94*(53), 89(43), 70(44), 41(32), 100(68). The wicketkeeper-batter also surpassed Ajinkya Rahane to score the most runs in an IPL season for RR. He has at least five more matches to go. 

On Saturday, Jos Buttler slammed five boundaries and four maximums during his stay at the crease. He picked on a young Hrithik Shokeen, taking the spinner for four consecutive sixes in the 16th over.

The MI bowler, however, came back to take Buttler’s wicket. He dismissed the English batter with a drifted delivery outside off from round the wicket. The ball was hit with the toe-end of the bat and caught at long-off. However, Jos Buttler had already played his role.
