Edward Michael “Bear” Grylls, best known for his TV series Man vs. Wild, is a renowned adventurer and a television presenter. He is currently in the news for a series on Netflix that features Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh. Among those who have been on the Man vs Wild show is Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Ranveer Singh Vs. Wild With Bear Grylls,” airs on Netflix from July 8. The trailer released last week caused the hashtag #RanveervsWildWithBearGrylls to trend on Twitter, along with a wide array of memes.

  Gryll graduated from the University of the West of England, Bristol, and Birkbeck College. He also served as a trooper in the Territorial Army with 21 SAS. He holds the honorary ranks of lieutenant commander in the Royal Naval Reserve, and colonel in the Royal Marines Reserve.

Gryll’s first show Escape to the Legion debuted in 2005, and was a four-part series. He soon became one of the most recognised TV figures in the survival and adventure realm, with massively popular shows such as “Man vs. Wild”, “Bear’s Wild Weekend”, and “Running Wild with Bear Grylls.

Grylls is married to Shara Cannings Knight, and has three children with her, namely Jesse, Marmaduke, and Huckleberry. He comes from a family of four, with his father Sir Michael Grylls being a conservative politician, who is married to his mother Sarah. Grylls’ elder sibling is his sister Lara Fawcett.

An Anglican with strong faith, Gryll has stated, “You can’t keep God out. He’s all around us, if we’re just still enough to listen.”
