Rapper Takeoff, a former member of the hip-hop duo Migos, was shot and died on Monday night in Houston, according to TMZ.
Takeoff was a member of Migos, along with Quavo and Offset. Migos is widely regarded as one of the most influential rap groups of their generation, with Billboard noting that they “influenced pop culture and the whole English language by bringing their North Atlanta roots to the mainstream.”

Here’s a list of some of their greatest hits:
1) Stir Fry
Culture II’s third-highest charting single, the Pharrell-produced song peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. It’s likely to be remembered as their biggest hit. While remaining true to the group’s distinctive dynamic, Stir Fry’s vast appeal is obvious; it was the NBA’s official theme song for All-Star Weekend.
2) Pure Water (Mustard, featuring Migos)
Mustard’s beat retains some of the sharp, snapping West Coast minimalism that made him the producer of the moment a half-decade ago, but the screeching high-pitched melody that loops in the background of the tune is the best part of the hit song. It’s not the slow-creeping trap beats that defined Migos throughout the Culture era. Instead, the song’s music went back in time to a different era of Atlanta rap. The effect is similar to what they achieved with Stir Fry by reusing a Pharrell production from a decade ago. It’s nice to hear them step outside of their comfort zone, but it’s even better to hear them return to their best, most familiar context.

3)Walk It Talk It
The Walk It Talk It video was the most enthralling music video of 2018. On March 18, while teams in the NCAA tournament battled for a spot in the Sweet 16, Migos released the visuals for their Culture II track Walk It Talk It in the form of a Soul Train-themed masterpiece, which features Jamie Foxx as the Don Cornelius-inspired host of the fictional programme Culture Ride, the hip-hop trio as a swaying band swagged out in ruffled suits on top of platform shoes, and the song’s featured artist, Drake, coming to the stage rocking a Jheri curl.
The video, which was co-directed by Daps and Quavo, even has a variation of a Soul Train line.
4) Bad and Boujee
Despite all of the Migos’ surefire hits, Bad & Boujee is the only one to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track’s history began in August 2016, when Quality Control backed out of a deal with 300 Entertainment. The album took off and launched the group into another stratosphere of influence, complete with many memes and a famous shout-out from Donald Glover on the Golden Globes stage.

5) MotorSport
Cardi B’s energy combined with her public demonstrations of adoration for Offset, Nicki Minaj’s follow-up (at least temporarily) put an end to allegations of a long-standing feud between the two rap singers. The three Migos created a futuristic trap that laid the stage for Culture II.
