Bambi from Disney is one of the favourite retro characters, especially among millennials. However, after Rhys Frake-Waterfield revealed that he would be directing Bambi: The Reckoning, a horror, murderous version of the newborn dear, the image of the innocent infant Bambi is about to be shattered.

The film will be an unusually dark rendition of the beloved 1928 novel, according to director Scott Jeffrey. Bambi will be a ruthless murdering machine that lurks in the jungle, drawing design cues from Netflix’s The Ritual.

The next film Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, which has stirred up controversy ever since it was revealed, is also directed by Rhys. On February 15, 2023, the horrifying Winnie the Pooh remake is scheduled to be released in theatres. After Christopher Robin abandons Winnie and Piglet, the movie will depict them as brutal serial killers.

After Rhys revealed the new version of Bambi, the internet went absolutely crazy. Rhys received criticism from some who claimed he had already damaged Pooh and was about to corrupt yet another innocent Disney character. A few online users added that the director should create an original horror story rather than destroying beloved children’s characters.

In 2016, the character Bambi was made freely available, allowing moviemakers to reinvent the baby deer however they pleased. Producer Scott Jeffrey stated that Bambi: The Reckoning would be a rather grim retelling of the well-known tale when discussing the fresh perspective on the endearing children’s character.

He stated that Bambi would be presented as a killing machine and that the movie would be influenced by the Netflix film The Ritual (2017).
