Famous K-pop band BTS and British rock band Coldplay, on Monday, announced the release date of their latest collaboration ‘My Universe’ in a social media post. The new single will be released on September 24, 2021.

The news of ‘My Universe’s’ release ended months of endless speculation and built-up excitement. The CD version of the single was initially exclusively available to South Korea and was sold out within 10 minutes.

Fans can still get copies from the Coldplay store, but they are likely to get sold out very quickly too. The track has been co-written by both bands and will feature lyrics in both English and Korean. It is a part of Coldplay’s ninth studio album ‘Music of the Spheres’

News of the collaboration was first posted on social media earlier this June, sending the fans into a meltdown.

The members of both bands have spoken of their admiration for each
other in the past.

The South Korean boy band even performed Coldplay’s hit track ‘Fix You’ on MTV Unplugged in the recent past. Their performance was appreciated by Coldplay via their Twitter account.

Coldplay had even lauded the K-pop icons for their contribution to the music industry. It had even recommended BTS’ Billboard Hot 100 hit ‘Butter’.

In a recent interview, Coldplay lead singer, Chris Martin said: “When it comes to BTS, I just have nothing but love and respect for them. All seven guys, I think they’re just cool, stand for good things and sing about cool things. I love the fact that they are so huge and sing a lot in Korean, they don’t always have to sing in English. I love them a lot and so if the right song came along, I wouldn’t ever say no.”

Also known as Bangtan Boys, BTS is a seven-member boy band that was formed in 2010. The septet comprises of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
