The K-pop group BTS is in New York to attend the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly as presidential special envoys for South Korea. The group has accompanied South Korean President Moon Jae-in for the event, which is scheduled to take place from September 19 to 23. 

Last week, BTS went to Blue House and the President officially appointed them as the ‘Presidential Special Envoy for Future Generations and Culture.’

Expressing his gratitude, BTS member Kim Nam-joon, known as RM, said, “It is a huge honor, both as an individual and a citizen, to be able to hold the title of special presidential envoy for future generations and culture.”

“We’re always thinking about how we could give more and return the love we have received, and we’re just thankful that the president has presented us with such a big opportunity. We will do our best as special envoys,” he added.

When and where to watch the event- 

BTS will reportedly attend the ‘SDG Moment‘ event on September 20. BTS Army can watch the event live from 9 am to 6 am EST at United Nations’ Twitter and YouTube handles.

Meanwhile, as soon as the group landed in New York on Saturday, several of their fans flooded social media with well wishes.

“BTS is already landed on New York today. They’re now ready to do their schedule there especially for UNGA 2021. Let’s hope and manifest for their safety & their good health there. Take care our dearest boys !!” one fan commented. 

“BTS finally landed safely in New York after a +13 hrs flight, welcome to New York, i hope you had a comfortable flight. Pls take a good rest, stay safe and healthy and come back safely. We love you,” wrote another user.
