Talk show host Wendy Williams is being heavily criticised for her comments on TikTok star Matima “Swavy Miller”, who was shot dead in the US state of Delaware on Monday.
Social media users are slamming Williams for using the TikTok star’s death to make her audience laugh during one of the segments on a recent episode of ‘The Wendy Williams Show’.
“I have no idea who this person is. Neither does one person in this building,” Williams said.

Displaying a picture of the TikToker on the screen, Williams asked the audience to “clap” if they knew who he was. When not many people reacted, Williams said, “He’s a TikTok star and he’s got more followers than me. 2.5 million.”
She then revealed that he was murdered.
“So here he is, he’s 19 and he was murdered Monday morning. So Swavy is now dead. All those followers. Yeah, that’s really tragic — only 19 years old,” she said.

The clip from the show has gone viral on social media with people blasting her for being “disrespectful.”
“She & everyone in the audience are so disrespectful,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Imagine his family seeing this? Absolutely disgusting. I can’t wait till I see that this show is getting canceled. should’ve happened a long time ago,” another person wrote.
“Wait. This was how she chose to lead the segment talking about this young man’s death?” another Twitter user wrote.
Some also called for a ban on her show.
Swavy was shot to death in Wilmington on July 5 morning.
“He was taken away from us due to a senseless act of gun violence. Unfortunately, due to legality we are not able to provide much information on the events surrounding his passing. However, the family is working diligently to get justice for Swavy. This is just the beginning, we will forever keep his name alive and continue his legacy!” his family said in a statement.
