On Wednesday, September 21, Telemundo and Billboard announced that American pop singer Christina Aguilera will be receiving Billboard Spirit of Hope award for her significant charitable and humanitarian efforts. In addition to her musical accomplishments, she has raised her voice against domestic violence, been a steadfast ally of the LGBTQ+ community, promoted HIV/AIDS research, and traveled the world to feed children in impoverished areas.  

The global pop star will also be gracing the Billboard Latin Music Awards stage with her special performance.

On September 29th at 7 pm EST / 11 pm GMT, Telemundo will broadcast live coverage of the prestigious awards show from the Watsco Center in Miami, Florida. The highly anticipated event will also be simultaneously broadcast on Telemundo International, Peacock, the Telemundo App, and Universo, a Hispanic entertainment cable channel, in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In Selena Quintanilla’s memory, the Billboard Spirit of Hope Award was created. It is given to celebrities who have gone above and beyond their artistic endeavors to serve civic, communal, and humanitarian goals outside of music.

Previous winners of the Billboard Spirit of Hope Award include Shakira, Daddy Yankee, El General, Emmanuel, Gloria Estefan, Juanes, Juan Luis Guerra, Los Tigres del Norte, Luis Fonsi, Maná, Marc Anthony, Olga Taón, Ricardo Montaner, Ricky Martin, and Willy Chirino.

With more than 75 million albums sold worldwide and five No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Christina Aguilera is the third female artist and fourth overall to have done so in the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s. The singer-songwriter has won numerous awards, including the first Music Icon Award at the People’s Choice Awards in 2021 and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She was also the only performer under 30 to be listed among the 100 greatest singers in history by Rolling Stone magazine.
