Amazon’s Prime Video is set to release the first 2 episodes of the series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on September 2 (or September 1, depending on the time zone). They are switching to a one-episode-per-week release for the rest of the episodes.

The first 2 episodes of The Lord of Rings – The Rings of Power will be available for streaming on Prime Video from 6pm PT and 9 pm ET on September 1 and 2am on September 2 in the UK, along with corresponding times for more than 200 other countries and territories. Amazon provided time-zone specific release timings for Rings of Power episodes. In India, it will be released on September 2, at 5.30am.

In the following weeks, the episodes will launch at 9pm PT on Thursdays or 12am ET on Fridays, following the same timing schedule worldwide, so that the episodes release simultaneously for all the viewers.

In order to not have a 100% weekly release plan, The Rings of Power plans to not coincide with HBO’s House of Dragon which is going to release its first season, with 10 episodes, on Sunday. Had Rings of Power released one episode per week, instead of doubling up its first week, both the shows would have had their Season 1 finales aired on the same week – October 21 for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and October 23 for the prequel of Game of Thrones. Amazon Prime Video’s Lord of the Ring TV series will end on October 14, more than a week before House of the Dragon.

Amazon said, “The episode will launch at the same time around the world, so that all fans can experience them simultaneously.”
