Bollywood’s
veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan on Friday took to Twitter to express his joy over
winning the prestigious ‘The International Federation of Film Archives’ (FIAF) by
noted Hollywood filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan at a virtually-held award ceremony. Big B also attached a set of pictures from the event alongside the post.’

Sharing the good news with his fans, Bachchan wrote, “Deeply honoured to have been conferred the 2021 FIAF Award. Thank you FIAF, Martin Scorsese , Christopher Nolan for bestowing the award on me in the ceremony today.”
The ‘Pink’ actor also took out time to praise the contribution of modern technology which helped him connect with the rest of the world in these times.
Big B was conferred with the honour for his contribution in the world of cinematic arts and the preservation of and access to the world’s film heritage.
The FIAF Award was introduced in 2001 and was presented to Martin Scorsese in the same year for his film archival efforts.
Congratulating and praising Big B for his role as a representative of the craft, Scorsese in an interview with Variety said, “He has played an essential role in putting the cause of film preservation on the map in India and the subcontinent.”
Other past winners include Ingmar Bergman (2003), Mike Leigh (2005), Hou Hsiao-hsien (2006), Peter Bogdanovich (2007), Rithy Panh (2009), Agnès Varda (2013), Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne (2016), Christopher Nolan (2017), Apichatpong Weerasethakul (2018), Jean-Luc Godard (2019), and Walter Salles (2020).
With over five decades in the Hindi Film Industry, the megastar refuses to take a break even at an age of 78. He is currently working on multiple projects that include ‘Brahmastra’ and ‘Chehre’.
