Country superstar Dolly Parton was voted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame against her wishes. She, along with Eminem, Pat Benatar, Lionel Richie, and Carly Simon have been inducted into the HoF at the 37th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on November 5, 2022, at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California

Parton was inducted by P!nk. The veteran singer/songwriter belted out her classic hit Jolene at the ceremony.

“This diverse group of inductees each had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture and helped change the course of rock & roll,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. “Their music moved generations and influenced so many artists that followed.”

For those unversed, Dolly Parton bowed out of her Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination in March while the voting had already begun, saying that “I don’t feel that I have earned that right.”

“Dolly here! Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don’t feel that I have earned that right,” she said in a statement on social media.

She added, “I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out. I do hope that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will understand and be willing to consider me again-if I’m ever worthy. This has, however, inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock ‘n’ roll album at some point in the future, which I have always wanted to do.”

“My husband is a total rock ‘n’ roll freak, and has always encouraged me to do one. I wish all of the nominees good luck and thank you again for the compliment. Rock on!” she concluded.
