The nominations for the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday and as always this year’s ballots are filled with strong contenders but also some major snubs.

In a year with a record-breaking number of Emmy nominations, we can’t help but be disappointed by some major snubs.

Here’s a list of the biggest snubs from the 2022 Emmy Nominations:

‘Black-ish’

James Griffiths comedy had received 24 nominations going into the 2022 Emmys, including four for best comedy series throughout a seven-season run. Additionally, Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson, who plays the lead, have both received a nomination for their respective roles five times in the past. Only the costumes and hairstyling received nominations for the show in this year’s nominations.

‘This is Us’

The final season of Dan Fogman’s drama series received just one nomination for outstanding original music, despite previous seasons receiving 39 nominations and winning four awards.

‘Atlanta’

‘Atlanta’ had 22 nominations throughout its first two seasons and won five awards. The only other nominations for the programme this year were for directing and cinematography, despite the fact that star and creator Donald Glover received a nod for lead actor. Along with the show’s incisive writing, the superb performance of its supporting actors (Brian Tyree Henry, LaKeith Stanfield, and Zazie Beetz) went unnoticed.

‘Pachinko’

Critic’s favourite, Soo Hugh’s ‘Pachinko’  was only nominated for main title design. The trilingual tale, which is told in three languages, is based on the same-titled book by author Min Jin Lee. The epic novel was brought to life with the help of 20 historical consultants from the United States, Korea, and Japan, multiple translators, four executive producers, two directors, two cinematographers, and 637 cast members, 95% of whom are Asian.

‘Only Murders in the Building’

Selena Gomez’s fans all around the world were left disappointed when she was not nominated for Steve Martin and John Hoffman’s Hulu comedy- drama while her costars Steve Martin and Martin Short both earned acting nominations.

‘Maid’

Margaret Qualley is nominated for her work in Molly Smith’s Netflix miniseries ‘Maid,’ the show did not receive a nomination for outstanding miniseries with ‘Inteventing Anna’ taking the spot instead.

‘Yellow Stone’

The drama series didn’t receive a nomination for best drama, and its stars Kevin Costner and Kelly Reilly were passed over in the acting categories. But despite the show’s devoted and sizable fan base, it’s possible that the Paramount barrier was still too much to overcome.

The Emmys do not yet have a host, though Chris Rock was rumoured to be approached for the role. The Emmy’s will take place on September 12, 2022, at 8 p.m. ET. NBC will broadcast the ceremony.
