friends in their 20s and 30s, has proven to be
an excellent guide for people not too familiar with the English language. Many celebrities and
megastars have spoken about the role the TV show played in their polishing the nuances of American English.

Jurgen Klopp

The manager of Liverpool FC, Jurgen Klopp, credited ‘Friends’ characters
Ross, Rachel, Phoebe, Joey, Monica and Chandler with helping him bridge gaps in
language comprehension. He said that the easiest way for Germans to learn
English was by watching ‘Friends’ on a BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily
podcast.

Luis Severino and Wilmer Flores

Luis Severino is a part of the New York Yankees. Wilmer Flores is a part
of the New York Mets. Severino, who hails from the Dominican Republic, and
Flores, who comes from Venezuela, have learned conversational English from the
show. Flores had said that he watches the show daily, and he has even changed
his walk-up music to the theme tune by the Rembrandts.

Kim Naamjoon

Kim Naamjoon is also known as Rap Monster AKA RM. He is a member of the
famous Korean boy band BTS. He has said that ‘Friends’ is often chosen by South Korean
mothers to pique their children’s interest in the language. He estimates that
he has watched all the ten seasons at least five times not to learn the
language but the expressions and gestures to communicate American emotion.
