Matthew Perry’s commitment to aiding individuals grappling with drug and alcohol addiction during his lifetime transcends into an enduring mission as those closest to the “Friends” actor initiate the establishment of “The Matthew Perry Foundation” in his honor. This foundation had been meticulously planned by Perry himself in the months leading up to his untimely passing, and it is now being realized posthumously.

The newly unveiled foundation carries the solemn purpose of assisting addicts in conquering substance abuse, mirroring the compassionate approach Perry held towards addiction and recovery. He once emphatically expressed, “When I die, I don’t want ‘Friends’ to be the first thing that’s mentioned — I want helping others to be the first thing that’s mentioned. And I’m going to live the rest of my life proving that. Addiction is far too powerful for anyone to defeat alone. But together, one day at a time, we can beat it down.”

Perry’s dedicated team further elaborated, “We embark on a journey to honor his legacy by establishing the Matthew Perry Foundation, guided by his own words and experiences, and driven by his passion for making a difference in as many lives as possible.”

The foundation’s website, albeit rudimentary at the moment, outlines its mission statement and provides a means for individuals to contribute financially. Notably, this philanthropic endeavor enjoys an indisputable legitimacy, with Perry’s team overseeing its establishment, thereby quelling concerns about its authenticity.
