Hollywood’s favourite actor, Tom hanks, has turned 64 today. The acting skills of the Oscar awardee is not unknown to anyone in the world and it just kept getting better with age. Be it a nice-hearted gentleman in ‘Forrest Gump’ or the romantic role of Sleepless in ‘Seattle’, Tom has been widely praised for the magic he creates on screen. This magic does not subside off the screen as well, with the actor being associated with over 30 charitable organisations.

He has received Arts for Humanity Award in 2012 from the Elevate Hope Foundation, a charitable organisation where he often donates. In 2016, former US President Barack Obama awarded him with the Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award of the country, for his good deeds. On his birthday, lets revisit the major areas he has donated to.

Organisations like The Women in the World Foundation and the Women’s Cancer Research Foundation are supported by Tom Hanks. He is one of those celebrities who is all in for women empowerment and raised his voice in support of the Me Too movement.

For Children

The Elevate Hope Foundation, an organisation which takes care of abused and abandoned children receives regular donations from Tom. The Hole in the Wall Gang, which organises summer camps for seriously ill children, is also supported by the actor.

For Environment

Tom Hanks cares about the environment and this is evident because he has extended his support to organisations involved in protection of forest dwellers in the Amazon forest, or ones responsible for the protection of world’s oceans and beaches.
