Dame Olivia de Havilland, the star of Hollywood’s golden age died at the age of 104 in Paris, reported AFP. Regarded as one of the last survivors of Hollywood’s golden era, Havilland played several iconic roles, including that of the virtuous Melanie in the epic Gone with the Wind.

Havilland won her first Academy award in 1946 for the movie To Each His Own in the Best Actress in a Leading Role. She would go on to win yet another Academy Award in 1949 for her role in The Heiress. 

Havilland won an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and also the New York Film Critics Circle Award for her role in The Heiress in 1949.

She starred in numerous Hollywood classics like Hold Back the Dawn, The Snake Pit, and The Heiress.
