Rapper Hurricane Chris was found not guilty of second-degree murder charges by a jury. He was accused of fatally shooting Danzeria Ferris Jr. in 2020 at a Texaco station in Shreveport, Los Angeles.The 34-year-old, whose real name is Christopher Dooley, told The Shade Room, “I wanna thank God, my attorneys at the Washington & Wells law firm, and my family for standing with me as my life was on the line.”

His legal team used a Friday character to make his case. The rapper’s attorneys claimed he acted in self-defense, likening the deceased man to “Deebo” AKA  the late Tiny “Zeus” Lister from Ice Cube’s 1995 classic movie. His attorney, Alex Washington, applauded the jury for having the courage to step up for his client.

It all started when Chris accused Danzeria Ferris Jr of trying to steal his car outside of a convenience store in Shreveport, Louisiana. When officers arrived on the scene, Ferris Jr. was rushed to a local hospital. He had gunshot wounds in his chest, hip, and stomach. He later died at a local hospital. The car that he possessed turned out to be a stolen vehicle.

During the trial, Alexandria Savage, Chris’ defense attorney stated, “One witness in the calls says the deceased Danzeria Farris Jr. took his last breath at the Texaco on Hollywood Avenue.” Not much else is known about the victim.
