The hashtag #RIPJeremyRenner started trending on Twitter on Saturday after people started circulating hoax news of the Marvel actor dying in an escalator accident. However, the reports are false. The 52-year-old actor, who met snow-plough accident earlier this year, is doing fine.

“Jeremy Renner was an inspiration to me to continue acting and treating loved ones (especially spouse) with the kindness and respect they need.. an empathetic and kind man had descended from this world yesterday…” one person tweeted.

“Fly high, Jeremy Renner. You will be missed.. I dedicated this art to your memory,” another person tweeted.

The actor, best known for his role as Hawkeye in the Avengers franchise, suffered injuries in a snowplow accident outside his Nevada residence on New Year’s Day, 2023. Renner suffered a collapsed chest, orthopedic injuries, and over 30 broken bones in the accident. He was hospitalised for several days.

In March, he shared an Instagram video, giving fans an update on his health.

“I’ve decided to push through the pain of progress (this damn shattered tibia) and take the new parts for a tiny test drive. The body is miraculous,” he captioned the video.

“Even though I feel like the Tin Man, needing oil for all my new joints (hips, knees, ankles, tibia, etc.),” the actor continued, “encouraged after this warm-up to press on (don’t tell my PT).”
