Kanye West has ended the two years partnership of fashion brands Yeezy and Gap. His attorney alleged that the retailer breached their partnership by not opening Yeezy stores and distributing his apparel as it was originally planned. According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Kanye West’s attorney Nicholas Gravante issued a statement and said West was left with “no choice but to terminate their collaboration”.

Kanye West also appeared on CNBC’s show Closing Bell where he said, “It was always a dream of mine to be at the Gap and to bring the best product possible. Obviously, there’s always struggles and back-and-forth when you’re trying to build something new and integrate teams.” He further added, “Sometimes I would talk to the guys, the leaders, and it would be like I was on mute or something.”

Authorities of fashion brand Yeezy had informed about their concerns in August 2022 and gave 30 days to cure the breaches but there was no action taken by the retailer.

Kanye West also posted an Instagram video where accused the company Gap of stealing his designs and excluding him from the creative process. The video was posted last month but was later deleted and it served as an ultimatum to the retailer Gap.

Gap CEO Mark Breitbard said, “While we share a vision of bringing high-quality, trend-forward, utilitarian design to all people through unique omni experiences with Yeezy Gap, how we work together to deliver this vision is not aligned.”
