On Wednesday, Nazia Nasim from Delhi became the first person of the 12th season of quiz show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ to win Rs 1 crore. After winning the amount, Nasim, who said herself a feminist, received a standing ovation from the quiz show host Amitabh Bachchan.
A pass out from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Nasim answered 15 questions correctly on the show on Wednesday and reached the final question for Rs 7 crore, the first contestant of the season to do so.
Nasim, who is currently working as a communication manager with Royal Enfield, answered 11 questions without using a lifeline and used her first lifeline, 50-50, for the 12th question.
The contestant used all her lifelines by the time she came to the Rs 1 crore question of KBC, however, she answered the question correctly. Nasim also opted for the Rs 7 crore question, the Jackpot question of the KBC, but quit the show as she was not sure of the answer.
Nasim, who had earlier said that she would dedicate whatever amount she wins to her parents, in-laws and for the education of her nine-year-old son, went home with the Rs 1 crore cheque, a chocolate hamper, a Diwali gift, and a scholarship for her son.
