Kavita Chawla, a homemaker from Kolhapur in Maharashtra is the first contestant from season 14 of KBC to win the cash prize of Rs 1 crore. The 45-year-old homemaker had always been dreaming of being on the hot seat since the launch of the show in 2000. 

On September 19, she was on the hot seat opposite Amitabh Bachchan and today Kavita Chawla will be seen answering the Rs 7.5 crore question. Social media users have been posting about her earning 1 crore.  Kavita Chawla accomplished a remarkable feat, and the fact that she patiently awaited and prepared for this time is what makes her deserving of so much admiration.

In an interview with the Times of India, she said, “I am extremely happy to reach till here. I feel proud that I am the first contestant to win RS 1 crore and I am really hoping and looking forward to answering the Rs 7.5 crore question too. My father and son Vivek are with me in Mumbai and nobody in my family knows yet that I have won 1 crore. I want them to see the show and surprise them.”

Kavita also revealed the reason for participating in this game show. She said that the game is not just about winning money but that she has participated for the sake of dignity and self-respect. In an interview given to India Today, Kavita said,  I have seen the maan-samman (respect-dignity) that one gets from this platform and it was my dream to earn maan-samman through his show and it is valuable to me. I was confident that I would become a crorepati this time because, as the show’s title suggests, everyone wants to become a crorepati. It was my dream too.”

Kavita also discussed how she planned to use the 1 crore rupees. She said her primary objective would be to pay off the two student loans that she took out. Kavita also talked openly about her aspirations to buy a home and travel the whole country.
