Lil Tay, whose real name is Tay Tian, addressed allegations she made against her father in an Instagram Live session. She began the session by performing music but later went on to discuss the accusations she had leveled against her father and his partner.
Attorneys representing Tian’s mother claimed they had successfully obtained court orders to assist Tian in advancing her career. They alleged that Tian’s father owed $275,000 in back child support and monthly support payments. They also argued that Tian’s mother should be the sole parent authorized to sign contracts on behalf of the performer.
Tian’s father, Hope, has denied his daughter’s claims.
Tian’s social media accounts had previously announced her death on August 10, causing confusion among her fans. The accounts later clarified that she was still alive. Tian issued a statement in response, explaining that her Instagram account had been compromised by a third party, leading to misinformation and rumors about her.
On September 28, it was announced that Tian is now in control of her own social media accounts. Her management clarified that the recent posts from her accounts were indeed her doing and that she is ready to pursue her career on her terms.
Tian had previously accused her father of orchestrating false reports of her death and of being abusive. The court battle with her father had taken a toll on her mental well-being and financial situation. Now that she has regained control of her social media accounts, she is looking forward to sharing her true self with her followers and pursuing her career.
