Controversial child rapper Lil Tay mourned her friend XXXTentacion’s death in her last Instagram post before her own death at the age of 14.

Tay shot to fame at nine years old. Her family has confirmed on her official Instagram page. “It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire’s sudden and tragic passing,” reads a statement shared to Tay’s Instagram account on Wednesday. “We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain. This outcome was entirely unexpected, and has left us all in shock. Her brother’s passing adds an even more unimaginable depth to our grief.”

The spokesperson asked for “privacy” during this time of grief. Both Claire and her brother’s deaths “are still under investigation,” according to the post.

I Love you Bro,” she wrote in the caption of a screenshot taken while she was FaceTiming with the late rapper.

At the time of his death, XXXTentacion was only 20 years old. His real name was Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy.

On June 18, 2018, the young rapper was killed after being approached by two armed suspects in what police said could have been a possible robbery. At the time, the rapper was reportedly shopping for motorcycles in South Florida and was leaving a dealership.

He was rushed to the hospital after being shot multiple times in the afternoon. He later died at the hospital.
