Manoj Bajpayee and Samantha Akkineni of ‘The Family Man’ fame received the Best Actor awardS in the latest edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) for their commendable performances in the second season of the popular web series.

In a virtual ceremony, conducted by the organisers of IFFM on Friday, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK’s ‘The Family Man’ made it big, receiving praises and awards.

South star Samantha Akkineni took to Instagram to express her happiness and wrote, “I am so so grateful.. Thankyouuu @rajanddk for being able to see beyond the ‘cute girl’ image that many couldn’t look past .. as an actor I dreamed of being given such an opportunity.. the chance to play a layered and intense role . #Raji forced me to dig deep .. and I am beyond happy today to receive a certificate of approval for the performance.”

Manoj Bajpayee was elated to receive the award for his incredible performance in the web series that hit very close to home. 

“Thank you to the jury members. Thank you to the whole team of ‘The Family Man’ for playing an instrumental role in making this show happen,” he said during his acceptance speech at the virtual ceremony of IFFM.

Actors Vidya Balan and Surya also won the Best Actor in Feature awards for their films ‘Sherni’ and ‘Soorarai Pottru’ respectively.

The Family Man is an action thriller web series streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The story dabbles in the life of a middle-class man who secretly works as an intelligence officer for the Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell (TASC). Along with Bajpayee and Akkineni, the web series has an impressively diverse cast, including Priyamani, Sharad Kelkar, Neeraj Madhav, Sharib Hashmi, Dalip Tahil, Sunny Hinduja and Shreya Dhanwanthary. The first season of ‘The Family Man’ was released in 2018.
