Actress Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings will fill in as hosts of the popular
game show ‘Jeopardy!’ for the remainder of the year after Mike Richards, host
and executive producer of the show had to exit. Ken Jennings is a former
Jeopardy champion. Sony Pictures Television announced the plan on Thursday.

Mayim Bialik will be hosting episodes airing through November 5. Following
which, she and Ken Jennings will be splitting hosting duties. Mayim Bialik and
Ken Jennings were roped in after the show’s original host and executive
producer Mike Richards had to leave the show for making misogynistic and
disparaging comments made earlier. Richards was expected to succeed “Jeopardy!”
original host Alex Trebek.

Mayim Bialik, the superstar of the long-running television show “The Big
Bang Theory”, was tapped as the interim host of show. No on-air auditions or
other potential hosts have been announced so far.

Ken Jennings is the record-holder for the longest “Jeopardy!” winning
streak and is also a consulting producer for the show. Talking about being the
host for the show, Jennings earlier said that he did not want to take over as
host because “it means we don’t get Alex”

“It’s just sad for me to go out there, in a way, because I know that, like
the audience, I wish it was Alex walking out at the top of the show,” Jennings
said.

Mayim Bialik has been chosen to host “Jeopardy!” prime-time as well as the
spin-off series. Bialik currently stars on the Fox sitcom “Call me Kat”.

“Jeopardy!” has been using a series of guest hosts, including Mike
Richards, since the death of the usual host Alex Trebec, who died last year of
cancer. The show producers spent much of last year rotating 16 hosts. The
episode televised on Monday had Mike Richards open the 38th season of the game
show.
