’83’ is based on India’s first-ever cricket World Cup triumph in 1983. While it has garnered positive responses, the film directed by Kabir Khan has failed to impress on the box office.
Though the film collected around Rs 15 crore on the day of its release but later, the collection was not up to the mark. This response has left its producers, Deepika Padukone, Kabir Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Sajid Nadiadwala, Reliance Entertainment and 83 Film Ltd, in shock.

Besides the loss the film is facing at the box office, various questions have arisen about how it was made. One source said, “What was the need to shoot at the pricey Lords stadium in London when there are so many similarly vast cricket stadiums right here in India?” Ranveer might likely take a cut in his pay, the source added.
