‘Nope’ is Jordan Peele’s third film and Steven Yeun plays a character named Ricky “Jupe” Park in the film. On Sunday morning, the writer-director Jordan Peele shared the opening credits of the 1996 ‘Gordy’s Home!’ sitcom on his various social media accounts.

The opening credits sequence shared by Peele introduces the show’s stars Tom Bogan, Phyllis Mayberry, Mary Jo Elliot portrayed by Andrew Patrick Ralston, Jennifer Lafleur and Sophia Coto, respectively. The clip showed the mom and dad in ‘Gordy’s Home!’ who are involved in the space program and there is a quick moment of young Jupe hiding under a table. The short trailer also showed the 90’s era with the popular use of props like skateboards, boom boxes and thick computer monitors and along with a background score of Gowan’s 1985 jingle “You’re a Strange Animal”. The trailer ends with Jupe and chimpanzee toying with a telescope and giving a fist bump.

In Peele’s third Jupe is the owner of a small Western-themed tourist park in a rural area of California known by the name of Jupiter Claims. Ricky runs Jupiter’s Claim with his wife and three sons and the theme park has cowboy actors, recreated storefronts, and regular live performances.  Both the opening credits of the sitcom and the film ‘Nope’ draw from the animal encounter that Jupe faced. The ‘Gordy’s Home’ introduction clip also makes an appearance in the film ‘Nope’.  Ricky Jupe in the film ‘Nope’ narrated the details of an unusual animal encounter he once had in the live performances of the theme park.

Ricky is also a former child artist in the 1996 Sitcom ‘Gordy’s Home!’ where he appeared opposite a chimpanzee. The show was cancelled after a chimpanzee became violent during production. Gordy the chimpanzee had brutally killed several members of the cast. The show was a hit and got renewed for a second season but came to a horrifying end. ‘Gordy’s Home!’ the introduction clip shared by Jordan Peele is the latest addition to the film ‘Nope’s’ marketing and is the third in line after Jupiter Claim’s Website and Jupiter Claims theme park releases.
