Oscar-winning director Bong Joon Ho is making his next feature film at Warner Bros for which he will reportedly be teaming up with actor Robert Pattinson. The science-fiction movie will be an adaptation of Edward Ashton’s upcoming novel “Mickey7.” Bong Joon Ho will also also be producing the yet-to-be-titled movie under his production company Offscreen.

The book in question is scheduled to be released in the first half of 2022. As per the plot of the book, Mickey7 is an Expendable sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim.

In an early review, author Jason Pargin called the book “a unique blend of thought-provoking sci-fi concepts, farcical relationship drama and exotic body humor.”

“Edward Ashton keeps it all grounded via a protagonist who experiences the wonders of interstellar travel and alien contact while literally having the worst job in the universe. The result is alternately amusing, intriguing and horrifying, with each chapter seeming to engage a different part of your brain,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, the movie is Bong’s first film since the 2019 thriller “Parasite,” which became the highest-grossing South Korean film in history. It was also the first non-English language movie to win the best picture at the Oscars. The movie also took home the awards for original screenplay, director and international feature. Bong has also directed acclaimed films like “Snowpiercer,” “The Host,” “Okja” and “Barking Dogs Never Bite.”

Pattinson, on the other hand, will next be seen in the much anticipated ‘The Batman,’ which will hit the theatres in March. The actor became world-famous for his portrayal of Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise. He has also acted in films such as Good Time (2017), The Lighthouse (2019) and Tenet (2020.)
