The 'Reservoir Dogs' actor Michael Madsen was taken into custody on Wednesday night at his Malibu home for trespassing on private property.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the 64-year-old was arrested around 9 pm on Wednesday.
Photos doing the rounds on social media showed the actor, wearing loose-fitting jeans, a Harley Davidson denim jacket, and a Hawaiian shirt, exiting his residence in handcuffs.
Madsen was taken to West Hills Hospital before being transferred to a police station. He was given a $500 citation and released from jail around 7 am on Thursday.
Authorities told the Daily Mail that a property owner tried performing a citizen’s arrest on the actor before calling cops for assistance.
The incident comes a month after the actor's son, 26-year-old Hudson Madsen, died in a "suspected suicide." He was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“I can confirm Hudson Lee Madsen, 26, died by a gunshot wound to the head in a suspected suicide on the island of Oahu,” a spokeswoman for the Department of the Medical Examiner in Honolulu said.
In a statement to the Los Angeles Times, Madsen had said, "I am in shock as my son, whom I just spoke with a few days ago, said he was happy — my last text from him was ‘I love you dad.'"
“It’s so tragic and sad. I’m just trying to make sense of everything and understand what happened.”
Madsen added, “He had typical life challenges that people have with finances, but he wanted a family. He was looking towards his future, so it’s mind-blowing. I just can’t grasp what happened.”
