A new trailer of Ryan Reynolds-starrer action-comedy ‘Free Guy’ released on October 5 and within 24 hours, the trailer gained over 55 million view.

The film has been directed by Shawn Levy and is scheduled to hit theaters on December 11.

The number of views surpassed the number of people who viewed the film’s first trailer late last year (40 million).

On Instagram, the trailer boasted 12 million views in 24 hours.

‘Free Guy’ revolves around a character in a video game who becomes self-aware and begins to change the rules of the world by becoming the hero as opposed to an NPC, or non-player character. Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, Lil Rel Howery, Utkarsh Ambudkar and Taika Waititi also feature in the movie.

The film has been produced by Reynolds, Levy, Sarah Schechter, Greg Berlanti and Adam Kolbrenner, with Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, George Dewey, Dan Levine and Michael Riley McGrath serving as executive producers.

On Sunday, Reynolds and his team, alongside Disney marketers, released the trailer poking fun at whether ‘Free Guy’ will actually make its release date.

Reynolds is known his films, such as Deadpool.
