Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his sister Alvira Khan been summoned by the Chandigarh Police following a complaint of cheating lodged by a local businessman. Apart from the actor and his sister, six others, including the Being Human Foundation CEO and officials of Style Qutient (licensee of Being Human Jewellery), have been summoned, police said on Thursday.

Arun Gupta, a local businessman, had filed a complaint stating that he had opened an exclusive store under the brand “Being Human Jewellery”, by spending close to Rs 3 crore in 2018. He claimed that he was assured that all kinds of backup will be provided and that Salman Khan will promote the brand.

Gupta stated in his complaint that neither promotion commitments were fulfilled nor goods were delivered to him for his store.

He said he repeatedly contacted company officials but they refused to keep their promises.

The complainant also claims that the office, which was to be used for collecting stock, was also lying shut since February 2020.

Gupta further claims that he was assured that Salman Khan will come himself for the inauguration of the showroom, but his brother-in-law Aayush Sharma came instead.

“After opening the showroom, we have not received any spot. They called us for a meet-and-greet with Salman Khan. I met him and he promised me. Now 1.5 years have passed and I have not received anything. Salman did not reply to my letters,” GUpta

Gupta has demanded the registration of an FIR in this case.

“They have been given till July 13 to reply. If there’s anything criminal, action will be taken,” Chandigarh SP Ketan Bansal told ANI.

Being Human Foundation is Mumbai-based charity that was founded by Salman in 2007. It provides education and healthcare services for the underprivileged in India and aims at helping children below the poverty line.
