The Supreme Court on Wednesday announced a CBI probe into actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, reported ANI. As per reports, while pronouncing the verdict, the apex court said, “The state of Maharashtra refused the option to challenge the order.”

The apex court said that if any other case is registered regarding Rajput’s death, it will be probe by CBI only. The court pronounced the verdict on the petition filed by Rhea Chakroborty seeking transfer of FIR registered by Bihar police to Mumbai, with respect to the death of  Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

The FIR lodged against Rhea accuses her of allegedly abetting the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. 

Rajput’s sisters welcomed the SC’s verdict. Shweta Singh Kirti tweeted, “There we go!! Finally!! CBI for SSR!! #CBITakesOver.” Meetu Singh wrote, There we go!! Finally!! #CBIForSSR!! #CBITakesOver .. thanks all SSRians And Supporter.”

Speaking on the verdict, Lawyer of Sushant Singh Rajput’s father, Vikas Singh said, “This is a victory for Sushant Singh Rajput’s family. SC ruled on all points in our favour. The Court also clearly said that the FIR registered at Patna was correct.” 

Speaking on the same, Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey said, “I am very happy. The Supreme Court’s order has strengthened the trust people have in the Court, and has assured the nation that justice will be delivered in the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.” 

The case was being heard by a single-judge-bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy, who pronounced the judgment on Wednesday.

Earlier, the Centre which had accepted the recommendation of Bihar police to transfer the FIR to CBI, and had informed the apex court of the same. The FIR which accuses Chakraborty and six others was lodged at the Patna Station by Sushant’s father,

Speaking ahead of the verdict, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said, “We will decide the way forward after the Supreme Court verdict today.”
