The coroner announced today that there has been no medical cause of death for Sinead O’Connor; a post-mortem examination is now required, and the results are expected to take “several weeks” to come in.

The 56-year-old celebrity was discovered ‘unresponsive’ in a south-east London flat after police were called, however detectives are not investigating the celebrity’s unexpected death as suspicious even if the cause is yet unknown.

‘The death of Sinead O’Connor in Lambeth was notified to the Coroner on Wednesday,’ reads a statement on the website of the London Inner South Coroner’s Court.

‘No medical cause of death was given. The Coroner therefore directed an autopsy to be conducted. The results of this may not available for several weeks.’

‘The decision whether an inquest will be needed will be decided when these results are known and submissions have been heard from the family.’

The Irish singer, well known for her 1990 global smash Nothing Compares 2 U, passed away in the British capital on Wednesday morning, according to Scotland Yard, just weeks after moving into a new flat and expressing interest in songwriting and a 2024 tour.

In the SE24 neighbourhood of London, which includes affluent Herne Hill and is situated between Brixton and Dulwich, police were summoned to a residence. Actors Mark Rylance, Olivia Colman, and James Nesbitt are notable SE24 residents.

O’Connor passed very abruptly, therefore a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death is likely. Her death in her own house has not yet been officially confirmed.

O’Connor revealed her anticipation and joy at watching the ballet and creating new songs in the days before she died. O’Connor had recently relocated back to London at the beginning of July, calling the city her “home.”
