Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have officially announced their breakup after spending two years together. A number of fans were rooting for the couple to go all the way and the breakup has left the crowd shocked.
The two collaborated professionally in 2019 with a steamy duet ‘Senorita’ that broke streaming records.
Both singers posted an identical update on their relationship status on their Instagram stories. They wrote, “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever.”
Shawn and Camila added, “We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning.”
The two first met in 2014 when Shawn and Camila both opened for Austin Mahone on tour. At the time Camila was a part of the girl group Fifth Harmony. They released their first duet in the following year, November 2015, titled “I Know What You Did Last Summer”.
The song was an instant hit and was a part of the top 20 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. Their 2019 release “Senorita” went on to take the number 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the two the American Music Award for collaboration of the year as well as a Grammy nomination for best pop duo/group performance.

Their romantic relationship became public in July 2019 when the two were spotted walking together while holding hands in West Hollywood. The rumors were confirmed by the couple sharing a picture of a purposely awkward kiss on social media in September that year.
Camila is working on her third studio album titled ‘Familia’ which includes the song ‘Don’t Go Yet’ while Mendes will set off on his World Tour. His most recent work was titled “Summer of Love”.
