Indian
cricket legends Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag appeared on the special ‘Shaandaar
Shukravaar’ episode of the 13th season of the game show Kaun Banega
Crorepati (KBC) on Friday. Fans were treated to a plethora of backstories from
their favourite cricket heroes as both the ‘Prince of Kolkata’ and the ‘Nawab of
Nazafgarh’ revealed interesting details from their heyday.
However, one
of the most interesting moments came when Ganguly made host and Bollywood
superstar Amitabh Bachchan sit on the ‘hot seat’ – the one meant for
participants. How the tables turn!

Bachchan
said he finally found out why it is called the ‘hot seat’, saying the pressure
was really intense and that he could feel the heat.
When on the
‘hot seat’ Bachchan was asked a number of cricket-related questions, starting
with having to identify the cricketer from a blurred-out image – of former Indian
captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
He was also
asked to name the iconic shots of Dhoni, Ganguly, Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar,
which he successfully did. He was also asked to identify the ground from a footage
– of Ganguly’s iconically waving his shirt in the air after beating England in
the final of the 2002 NatWest Series at the Lords’ cricket ground in London.
Meanwhile,
Ganguly and Sehwag shared a number of lesser-known tidbits from their playing days.
Ganguly revealed why he made Australian captain Steve Waugh wait before the
toss of the famous Test match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in 2001, saying he
had actually misplaced his blazer in the dressing room.
Sehwag
shared how he struggled with mental health issues as he used to get anxious
before appearing for a TV interview – as he had to speak in English and he was
not proficient in the language.
Also, Bachchan
revealed how he used to avoid watching India’s matches, as whenever he saw a
game, India would lose.
