Actor Taapsee Pannu is set to play the role of a feist cop, as she is teaming up with ‘Scam 1992’ actor Pratik Gandhi for “Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan?”, an investigative comedy backed by Roy Kapur Films, announced producer Siddharth Roy Kapur on Monday.
Pratik, who shot to fame with last year’s web series “Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story”, will play the role of a chauvinistic brat, who finds himself “compelled to take a riotous, madcap ride with Taapsee”s character, whose attitude to life is the diametrical opposite of his,” the makers said.
The movie, written and directed by “Breathe Into The Shadows” co-writer Arshad Syed, will go on floors by the end of this year. Siddharth said he decided to back the movie after Syed narrated the “charming and delightful” screenplay.

In a statement, he said the team is excited to work with Taapsee, “who brings so much energy and exuberance to the screen,” and Pratik, who blew them away with his performance in ‘Scam.’
“We are also very happy that Arshad, who is already known as a superb writer, will make his directorial debut with this film,” Siddharth said.
Taapsee said she loved the character, which is ‘strong, thoroughly unique and entertaining,’ written by Syed, adding that she is looking forward to start shooting for the film.
“It is very exciting to partner with a producer as prolific as Sid, as well as Pratik, whose performance in Scam left a lasting impression on me,” the 33-year-old actor said.
The movie will mark the first Hindi project of Pratik, as the 40-year-old Gujarati actor said “Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan?” came to him when he was looking for something different from his web show.
“I feel truly privileged to be a part of this project and to be working with the stellar team of Taapsee, Arshad and Sid. I was looking to dive into something totally different after ”Scam” and this role ticked all the boxes. I am sure it will be a fun ride ahead and I can’t wait to start,” the 40-year-old actor said.
The makers of “Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan?” are currently in the process of locking the rest of the cast and the film will go on floors by the end of this year.
