Taylor Swift announced her new album Midnights while going up on stage to accept her third Video Of The Year award at the 2022 MTV VMAs. The 32-year-old noted that her forthcoming album would be out on October 21 and signed off saying “And I’ll tell you more at midnight”. 

Thus far, we know the album has 13 tracks, six on Side A, and the rest on Side B and deals with “stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my [Swift’s] life”.

MTV shared a picture of Swift from after the music awards, captioning it “That post-VMAs/I just announced my new album glow”. 

Swifties reacted to the release with numerous posts on Twitter, catapulting the American singer-songwriter to No 2 on trends, with her album release trending at the third spot with the hashtag “Meet me at midnight”.

“Midnights has 13 tracks… I expected nothing less”, one fan commented, adding wink emojis at the end, referring to the fact that Swift’s lucky number is 13. 

Another Swiftie mentioned how they’d be losing sleep over the singer’s forthcoming release, saying, “no thoughts just taylor swift stealing our midnights”. 

People have already begun pre-ordering and one individual posted confirmation of their purchase on Twitter. 

Swift is known to pour her heart into her songs, which are often a reflection of her personal life. One fan commented, “anyways im scared for all of us to hear what goes through taylor swift’s head during midnights”. 

“I am ready to be hurt again by Taylor Swift”, another Swiftie added.

The singer is known for her many breakup songs, and a fan was quick to demand some of those on her forthcoming album saying that they’ve been on their seventh heartbreak since Swift’s last album dropped. 

Another Swiftie noted “Woke up to the news of my queen Taylor Swift dropping a new album”.
