Taylor Swift has announced her new album, Midnights, while accepting the historic third win for Video Of The Year. The 32-year-old got up on stage and said that she’d made up her mind that if the MTV VMAs were generous enough to give her the award then she’d take the opportunity to announce that her new album comes out on October 21.

Swift signed off saying, “And I’ll tell you more at midnight”.

The American singer-songwriter also tweeted about her upcoming album, sharing more details.

Swift described it as being about “Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life”.

She continued with a more detailed description, in one of the album images.

“We lie awake in love and in fear, in turmoil and in tears. We stare at walls and drink until they speak back. We twist in our self-made cages and pray that we aren’t-right this minute-about to make some fateful life-altering mistake”, Swift said, adding, “This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams.”

She said that the album is also about “The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching-hoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve… we’ll meet ourselves”.

Swift added a link to her site, where interested parties can pre-order her new album.

They come in various formats – including vinyl, CD, cassette, and digital albums. For now, only those in the US can obtain physical copies of her latest work, of which the vinyl is the most expensive, priced at $29.99.

Each of the formats comes with various other paraphernalia for Swifties to enjoy, like never-before-seen photographs, which are part of the vinyl pack. Swift’s last album was Red (Taylor’s version), which came out in 2021.
