Katharine McPhee has addressed claims that she looked “uncomfortable” in a resurfaced video of Russell Brand pulling her onto his lap when they both appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
“I know nothing [about] what you are trying to claim here but this specific incident was over 10 years ago and it was harmless,” McPhee wrote in the comments of an Instagram post about the incident. “Please don’t try and use me for whatever purpose you are trying to serve.”
The incident in question took place back in 2013 when Brand, 48, was already seated next to host Jimmy Fallon on his then-show, Late Night, when McPhee walked out on the set. Fallon requested Brand to move over so McPhee could have his seat.

However, instead of moving, Brand pulled McPhee onto his lap. “Katharine is welcome to sit here,” Brand said as he wrapped his arms around McPhee’s waist. “For the queen!”
Realizing exactly what Brand was planning to do, Fallon begged him, “No Russell, don’t even say ‘For the Queen’, you can’t.” As he began suggestively bouncing McPhee on his lap, the actress immediately leaped up in shock. Meanwhile, Fallon appeared visibly stressed, running a hand over his face.
The comedian did eventually stand up and moved, telling McPhee, “You’re beautiful.” He added, “I’ll just be here with my sexual charisma,” after switching the seats. “Russell, please stop. Look away,” Fallon admonished him.

He continued his flirting attempts with McPhee throughout the rest of the interview. He told the audience, “As you know, I’ve announced it, I find Katharine very attractive and I think when she said ‘exchange numbers,’ I thought of things I’d like to exchange with her.”
The resurfaced video has gone viral in light of the rape and sexual abuse accusations brought against Brand by various women recently.
