K-pop star Astro band member Moonbin died in a suspected suicide on Wednesday. His body was discovered at his Seoul apartment by his manager. He was 25 years old.

To show respect for Moonbin, many Korean pop stars are postponing their promotional tours and events. Moonbin’s official cause of death is yet to be disclosed by the police as they investigate his death.  The authorities said that they “are considering conducting an autopsy while investigating the cause of death,” according to Yonhap News TV.

When will Moonbin’s funeral be held?

The final rites of Moonbin will be held on April 20 in Seoul. In a statement following Moonbin’s death, Astro’s agency has asked for privacy as well as disclosed the nature of the funeral expected to be held. “The bereaved family of Moonbin, who is deeply saddened by the sudden unfortunate news, wishes to carry out the funeral quietly,” the statement said.

It further added: “With heavy heart, we would like to inform you that the 2023 Moonbon & Sanha Fan Con Tour: Diffusion in Jakarta to be held on May 13 is canceled. After long discussion and consideration, we have to cancel this event due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control that we could not avoid.” Currently, the late Moonbin is buried at Asan Central Medical Center.

Moonbin’s sister, Moon Sua, who is a member of the girl group Billlie, is to serve as the chief mourner during her elder brother’s funeral ceremony. Following the unfortunate news of Moonbin’s passing, ASTRO’s agency confirmed that Jinjin and Sanha were the first to arrive to pay their respects. MJ has taken an emergency leave from his military training period to support Moonbin’s family at this time of need. Cha Eun Woo will also be flying into Seoul on Thursday to attend Moonbin’s final rites.

K-pop groups like iKON, Xdinary Heroes, Xikers, and The Wind have updated fans that in the wake of Moonbin’s death they will refrain from sharing teasers or promotional activities Singer, actor IU has also delayed her press conference for the promotion of her upcoming release Dream. iKON’s comeback has been pushed by YG Entertainment to April 21.

BTS member Suga has postponed a fan signing event scheduled for Friday. Mnet’s M! Countdown and KBS2’s Music Bank have announced that although they will continue with their broadcast, it will be done in a somber manner. The shows will also display a message of support and tribute for Moonbin. In light of this situation, Performers will be reportedly wearing black outfits.

Activities have been canceled at Dive Studios for the week. Their tweet read. “In light of Moonbin’s passing, we are postponing the release of all DIVE Studios and Mindset content for this week. We send our deepest condolences and appreciate everyone’s understanding,” they said in a statement.
